SUNY Empire’s Black Male Initiative to Host “A Conversation With Margaret Burnham and Angela Davis"

Empire State University’s Black Male Initiative is pleased to host “A Conversation with Margaret Burnham and Angela Davis” on Saturday, October 14 at 1 p.m. at 4 Park Ave. in Manhattan. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Burnham, a lawyer, is the daughter of Dorothy Burnham, a longtime faculty member at SUNY Empire and a civil rights activist. Margaret is also the author of "By Hands Now Known: Jim Crow's Legal Executioners." Davis is a political activist and author and serves on the faculty of the University of California in Santa Cruz.

The two will discuss recent Supreme Court decisions, including the ruling on affirmative action, and their impact on communities of color. The conversation will also include Margaret's new book and Dorothy Burnham's legacy at SUNY Empire, including the new scholarship in her name.
