Ways to Structure Sentences

Why even bother with sentence structure (the way you pattern the words in the sentence) as long as you get the words to say what you want them to say?

  • In the first place, it's boring to read sentences that use the same structure over and over again.
  • Second, and more importantly, the way in which you place the words also shows the importance or relationship of ideas.

Sentence structure has the power to help you create both interest and meaning in sentences.

There are three types of sentence structures that you should know about in order to manipulate meaning and emphasis in sentences:

  1. Simple Sentences
  2. Compound Sentences
  3. Complex Sentences
