Grade Point Average Expectations for Undergraduate Students

Prior to Fall 1 2015

  • You must maintain at least a 2.00 GPA after graded credits.
  • You need to maintain at least a 2.00 GPA to remain an Empire State College student.
  • You need to maintain at least a cumulative 2.00 GPA.

The college calculates a cumulative GPA at the end of the first term in which you successfully complete at least 8 credits of graded study. Thereafter, the college recalculates it at the end of every enrollment in which you successfully complete graded study. If you receive new grades for a study in a previous term, the college recalculates your GPA when the grade is submitted.

Calculating Your GPA

To calculate your GPA, multiply the numeric value for each letter grade by the number of credits to determine the quality points for each graded study or course. Add up the quality points. Add up the total number of graded credits. Divide the total quality points by the total number of graded credits. That yields your cumulative GPA.
