Grade Point Average (GPA) and Academic Standing

Beginning Fall 1 2015

The grade point average is one of two criteria that establish the student’s academic standing with the college. The other is the student’s satisfactory academic progress rate (SAP). A student who meets these two criteria is in good academic standing and is eligible to re-enroll.

Eligibility to receive financial aid may be impacted by a student's GPA and SAP. Good Academic standing and financial aid eligibility may not always align. Grade Point Average Expectations for Undergraduate Students

• You must maintain at least a 2.00 GPA after 8 graded credits.
• You need to maintain at least a cumulative 2.00 GPA to remain an Empire State College student.
• You need to maintain at least a cumulative 2.00 GPA to graduate.

The college calculates a cumulative GPA at the end of the first term in which you successfully complete at least 8 credits of graded study. The college recalculates it at the end of every term of enrollment thereafter. If you receive new grades for a study in a previous term, your GPA is recalculated when the grade is submitted.
