For Students - Graduation Verification
Occasionally a student may need communication from Empire State University verifying that they are a SUNY Empire graduate. We encourage students to request an official transcript as the official transcript is a verification of the degree awarded. If it is not possible to send an official transcript, the university can provide a letter verifying that the student is a graduate.
Requests for verification of graduation must include all of the following information:
- name
- student ID number or social security number
- the name and complete address of the organization to which the graduation verification is to be sent (Note: letters cannot be emailed.)
- a daytime telephone number and address where the student may be contacted in case there are any questions
- the student's original, handwritten signature.
The graduation verification letter is not a substitute for an official transcript.
