Understanding Medical Cannabis Residency
- Examine the emerging national trend to legalize medical cannabis in the United States.
- Consider the scientific evidence regarding the use of medical cannabis, the ethnobotanical origins of cannabis as a medicine and the impact of medical cannabis legislation on patients and caregivers.
- Explore the historical and cultural context of marijuana in the United States and the debates surrounding the legalization and criminalization of marijuana.
The Understanding Medical Cannabis Residency allows students to take a 4-credit, advanced level, liberal study that uses a blended model combining an online component with one onsite meeting in Manhattan, N.Y.
At the start of the term, students will study online in Moodle, attend the onsite meeting in Manhattan March 9-10, and then return home to finish the remainder of the term online. While onsite, students will have the opportunity to participate in group activities, interact with leading experts in the field and engage in discussions with faculty and fellow students.
