PLEASE NOTE: Starting Spring 2021, The Central New York Learning Community is now The Saturday Residency. Please visit the new website www.esc.edu/SaturdayRes for more information.
The Central New York Learning Communities courses use a blended model that combine online learning with three virtual meetings per term. The virtual meetings are accessed through Microsoft Teams Saturday, Oct. 3, Nov. 7, and Dec. 5.
The virtual meeting schedule is broken down into three cores with an hour for lunch. Students are required to attend during their scheduled class time and may register for up to three courses, with no more than one course in each core.
Each course meets for 2 hours and 15 minutes. During class, students will meet virtually with their instructor and fellow classmates and work on projects and assignments.
During the lunch break from 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., students are encouraged to attend the "Lunch and Learn" sessions that offer a variety of professional and personal enrichment workshops and presentations. This is an excellent opportunity for students to network and learn practical skills and knowledge to apply to the workplace and everyday life.
- 9 – 11:15 a.m. - Core I Courses
- 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. - Virtual Lunch and Learn
- 1 – 3 p.m. - Core II Courses
- 3:30 – 5:45 pm. - Core III Courses
Microsoft Teams Virtual Meetings
The three Saturday meetings take place virtually using Microsoft Teams. The platform is similar to Zoom or Skype and is user friendly. Students can access the meetings through a computer, laptop, or phone. Use the Technology Checklist for Microsoft Teams to download Teams to a preferred device and make a test call before class.
