Accommodations

Students will meet and camp at the Upland Interpretive Center (UIC) located on the Thayer Farm Properties (near the field station). Students using college-provided tents MAY be asked to share with another student. Bed mats/rolls, blankets, pillows and/or sleeping bags are not provided. There is a shower and bathroom facilities located inside the UIC. A full packing list will be provided once registration has ended.

From the South:

  • Take Route 28 into Cooperstown, follow to Route 80E.
  • It will be 8-9 miles up Route 80E to the UIC.
  • You will pass the Farmers’ Museum on the left and the Fenimore House on the right.
  • You will see the Biological Field Station on the right – NOT the right property.
  • Eventually you will see a turn off/wooden fence on the right and a sign for Biological Field Station/Boat House – NOT the right property.
  • 100 yards up on the left, you will see a sign for Biological Field Station/Thayer Property – make a left there.
  • Once on the driveway, you will pass a house, curve to the left and go up a hill to find the UIC. 

From the West, East and North:

  • Take Route 20 to Route 80 (as if going to Cooperstown).
  • You will pass the Glimmerglass Opera House on your left.
  • 1-2 miles past the Opera House, you will see a sign on the right side for Biological Field Station/Thayer Property – make a right there.
  • Once on the driveway, you will pass a house, curve to the left and go up a hill to find the UIC.
