SAC Standing Committee Report February 2007

Standing Committee Report to the Senate
February 2, 2007
The Student Affairs Committee (SAC) held conference calls on December 19, 2006 and January 16, 2007. SAC welcomed one new student member to the committee, Cheryl Alger from the Central New York Center.
Increasing the use of the SAC discussion database by the committee has been a topic of interest for the group. We hope to direct more e-mail communication to the discussion database to ensure that committee members who do not have e-mail access during the day can participate fully in discussions and decision-making. Members are now posting subcommittee reports, SUNY Student Assembly reports and general discussions in the database.
Discussion was initiated regarding the possibility of rotating the location of the Student All College Conference to different Centers across the state each year. Committee members are bringing the idea back to their Centers for feedback.
Plans for the April face-to-face SAC meeting are underway. CLT will be providing a demonstration of Angel, and Maureen Winney from Alumni and Student Relations will talk with the group about the Student Activity Fee process.
Newsletter Subcommittee: SAC brainstormed topics for articles for the Spring 2007 edition of the newsletter. Articles will be sent to Audrey Lynch (GVC) by February 20, 2007 for the April publication. President Moore will be contributing an article.
Student All College Conference Subcommittee: Pat Ryan (CGP) reported that the committee is working with Alumni and Student Relations to wrap up the 2006 conference in terms of the budget. Also under consideration are changes to the structure of concurrent sessions. The next conference will be held at the Holiday Inn in Saratoga on October 19-20, 2007. The committee will convene soon to plan this event. DoriAnne Sapienza-Palma (LIC) has provided photographs from the last conference, which the group plans to use in future newsletters and/or place on CDs that could be shown in Center lobby areas.
Students Assisting Students Subcommittee: SAC will be discussing the future reorganization of this group, as some student members will be graduating and leaving the committee this year.
Web site Subcommittee: The SAC web site has now been updated, with the assistance of Linda Bubniak.
