Announcing the 2018 Student Art Competition
It’s time for SUNY Empire State College’s 11th Annual Student Art Competition. The winning pieces will be announced in mid-September. At that point, the collegewide voting will begin for the piece to be displayed on the poster.
At the Fall Student Conference, the winning poster as well as all the winners will be recognized. First, second, and third place prizewinners receive a monetary award. There may be several honorable mentions as well.
In honor of SUNY Empire’s Year Of cultural initiative, there will be an additional prize for the piece or art work that embodies the “Indigenous Peoples of the Americas” theme. In addition, the piece selected for the poster will receive an additional award.
In addition, travel assistance is available for the top three winners so they can attend the Fall Student Conference and display their winning pieces at the Art Show on October 12th.
We continue to be impressed by the volume and quality of submissions we receive every year and look forward to the same this year.
Students are encouraged to submit up to 3 pieces of artwork online to be reviewed by a committee of judges across the state. Any type/medium of art is accepted for judging, but it must be submitted as a two-dimensional electronic image. Submissions are due by Wednesday, September 12th by 5pm.
