Registration is now open for SUNY Empire’s virtual Founder’s Day 5k! Participants have the option to walk, jog, or run.  Complete your 5K (3.1 miles) between April 28 and May 16.  You can go at your own pace and share your results with us once you’ve crossed the finish line.

We will award several prizes to the top finishers in the following categories:

• The three top overall finishers will receive a SUNY Empire vintage prize package with vintage swag!
• The top two finishers in each of the following categories will receive a SUNY Empire performance t-shirt featuring our mascot Blue! (Those who are the top three overall finishers are not eligible to receive the top finisher t-shirts.)
• Students
• Alumni
• Faculty/Staff
• Walkers

The Founder’s Day 5K registration fee is $10. The fee will benefit student scholarships to aid current and future SUNY Empire students.

Track your distance

To track your distance, use your smartphone, or download an app like Map My Run, Strava or Endomondo.

If you’re taking your walk/run outside, map your route. You may have a favorite spot to run, walk, or hike, but if not, here are a few tips to find a safe space:

• Check out the parks, bike paths, colleges, and schools in your community.
• Find an athletic track (12.5 laps on a 400m track = 5k).
