The start of the term is a great time to learn about effective reading strategies. Directors of Academic Support Dan McCrea and Mildred Van Bergen have created a short video that can give students those skills. With many classes offering online reading materials, students can now access this video to learn how to better understand and retain what they read online.  
 
This short but helpful video looks at reading strategies in general and why they are important.  It then looks at the difference between reading information in print versus reading it online, and how the two media can create different experiences.  It also discusses specific online reading distractions and how to deal with them.  You can check it out on the Academic Support Portal in MyESC.
