September 13, 2011

SUNY Empire State College Northeast Center is pleased to offer students a wide range of FREE academic support workshops, covering a range of topics, such as time management, writing strategies, library research skills and math and science learning strategies. Each workshop is designed to help students maximize his or her academic success through instruction in effective study strategies and access to academic support resources.

All workshops are offered simultaneously live onsite and in an online classroom.

Students must register for face-to-face attendance, as space is limited. Registration also is needed for online attendance so additional information about how the online site operates can be provided for enrollees.

To Register:

Call the Northeast Center in Latham at 518-783-6203 or email
NECAcademicSupport@esc.edu. Please indicate whether you will be attending online or onsite. If the workshop is held at multiple onsite locations, indicate the site you will be attending.

For Face-to-Face Attendance:

Prior to the date of the workshop, locate directions to the site and plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.

For Online Attendance:

After calling the center and reserving your space, log into the online classroom at http://bit.ly/NECworkshops. If you decide to attend at the last minute, you can go directly into the online classroom; however this option may not be available if no one has registered prior to the event.

Please note: The presenter will log into the online space 10 minutes before the workshop begins to assist students with any technical questions, but will begin the workshop promptly at the scheduled start time. If nobody logs in 10 minutes after the start of the workshop, the presenter will not keep the online classroom active. So, plan to log in early and be ready to participate in the workshop on time.

For a complete listing of individual workshop descriptions, archived materials and more information about the workshops and the NEC Office of Academic Support, go to http://necacademicsupport.pbworks.com/Workshops.

Other regional centers offer workshops as well. Call the Director of Academic Support at your center for more information.
