SUNY ESC and St. Elizabeth School of Radiology Partner to Ease Transfers

Partnership, St. Elizabeth School of Radiology SUNY Empire State College and the St. Elizabeth School of Radiologic Technology program have entered into a partnership that allows for easy transfer into academic-degree programs at the college. Using the college’s generic evaluation for radiological technology, students are able to gain college credit for their training at St. Elizabeth.

This agreement was signed at the SUNY Showcase at SUNY-IT Thursday (Feb. 16). Nikki Shrimpton, (second from right) dean of the college’s Central New York Center, represented SUNY Empire State College and Dr. Douglas Gleasman, (far right) director of the St. Elizabeth School of Radiography, and Robert Scholefield, (far left) vice president and COO, St. Elizabeth Medical Center, represented St. Elizabeth. SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher (second from left) also was present.

Shrimpton noted, “We are very excited about this partnership. Much like our partnerships with community colleges across the state, this is in keeping with our mission to serve local communities and their adult learners.”

“We are pleased to collaborate with SUNY Empire State College to benefit our radiography students,” Scholefield said. “St. Elizabeth’s mission includes excellence in education, as well as health care. This agreement will enhance our mission.”

About St. Elizabeth School of Radiologic Technology Program

The School of Radiologic Technology at St. Elizabeth Medical Center was originally established in 1945. With the support and guidance of the Sisters of St. Francis, the education of radiologic technologists became a formalized program in 1964. Successful completion of this program leads to a certification in radiologic technology and eligibility to take the national licensing examination.
