The Student Affairs Committee at SUNY Empire State College

The Student Affairs Committee, commonly referred to as SAC, is one of five standing committees of the SUNY Empire State College Senate. SAC comprises one staff representative (faculty or professional) from each center and one student representative from each center.

As cited in the SUNY Empire State College Bylaws, “SAC shall act on behalf of students in the continuing study, review, and recommendations for change in all phases of student involvement in the College.” As a committee, we participate in the development and review of various programs, policies and procedures that impact the college community at large.

In other words, SAC is here to serve you.

Some ideas that have sprung from SAC include The Student Academic Conference, the development of college-sponsored clubs and organizations, The Student Art Competition and The Student Connection newsletter.

Our agenda for this year includes an initiative to support the financial literacy of our student body. This will be approached through a proposed increased availability of workshops, both online and face-to-face, and will be done in consultation with our Financial Aid Office and the Office of Student Accounts.

Some other items on our agenda are to increase student-engagement activities, collegewide, and to continue to support and develop The Student Connection newsletter.
