The Crystal Scriber Art Gallery at the Utica Unit was the venue for the opening reception for Dawn H. Farrar’s senior exhibition last month. More than 30 people attended. Farrar graduated with a B.A. in fine art. In her artist statement, she credits her formal studies with teaching her the value of incorporating the figure, objects and landscapes into her work.

Farrar noted, "I had a wonderful time holding my first solo exhibition, ‘Expression in Representation,'in the Crystal Scriber Art Gallery as part of my senior exhibition course at SUNY Empire State College. It was truly an invigorating experience. Additionally, I know this course and exhibition, along with my degree in fine arts, has given me a solid foundation for my career in the world of art."

She has worked hard in revealing the anatomy of a painting by layering aggressive brush strokes and vibrant colors in constructing canvases using common objects as narratives. Her confidence is accessible to the viewer in her one-person show now in the Utica Unit of Empire State College, Ms. Farrar has created the foundation to participate in the art's community here in Central New York."
