Welcome from the Editor

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new student editor of The Student Connection. My name is Sandra Barkevich and I am studying business management and economics with the Center for Distance Learning at SUNY Empire State College. I plan on earning my Bachelor of Science by 2015.
In addition to my background in business, I am very passionate about writing and plan to bring this enthusiasm to my new role as student editor for The Student Connection. I will be working directly with the Office of Collegewide Student Services, with Director Pat Myers. I look forward to working with fellow students, faculty and staff and plan to continue the success of the newsletter under the excellent guidance of previous editor, Danielle Clum, who has graciously decided to stay on as assistant editor during this transition.
The Student Connection will continue to be the place to find college-related, as well as general-interest articles written by students, faculty and staff. The newsletter will continue to showcase students, alumni and faculty in profiles, and feature students’ creative writing in “The Student Voice.” Every issue also will include a “Did You Know” fact about SUNY Empire State College.
I welcome your thoughts or suggestions. If you’re interested in writing for The Student Connection, email me at Student.Editor@esc.edu.
