Why Do Alumni Donate to Empire State College?

To answer this question, you may need only consider where you are now as a student and what your investment of time and money can help you accomplish after graduation. SUNY Empire State College served as the academic destination for more than 73,000 alumni who, like you, were looking for an innovative, flexible, accessible and affordable educational experience that fit their busy lives and helped them achieve their academic, personal and professional goals.
Alumni donate to Empire State College because they value their student experiences and what has resulted from them, and because they want to ensure those same opportunities exist for the next generation of students working hard to earn their degrees and enhance their futures – that’s you.
Alumni gifts can advance faculty research, help maintain state-of-the-art online and classroom technology and support construction of new facilities to meet the demands of growing academic programs. Alumni donations also fund critical student scholarships and whatever is most needed to fulfill the college’s mission to provide “rigorous programs that connect individuals' unique and diverse lives to their personal learning goals.”
By supporting students this way, alumni also benefit. Alumni want to help current students because helping others feels good and because, at one time, people helped them. This act of paying it forward to make a difference is a common motivator.
We are thankful for the many alumni who support Empire State College and for you, our students, for choosing SUNY Empire as the place to advance your learning, earn your degree and pursue your academic goals. On behalf of the Office for Advancement, best of luck in your continued studies. And if you’re graduating – congratulations. We wish you the very best.
