The Office of Collegewide Student Affairs is now accepting applications for the 2017 SUNY ACT for Excellence and Student Initiative Scholarship.  This scholarship will require students to have a GPA of 3.5 or higher as of the last reporting period. This student also must have played a role identifying and/or supporting specific needs on your campus or in your community and worked to provide a service or solution to address that need.

This scholarship runs throughout every SUNY university and college, making it a very prestigious SUNY-wide award. The scholarship is given by the Association of Council Members and College Trustees of the State University. The purpose of the scholarship is to reward students who excel academically as well as show extraordinary commitment to their campus and/or community.

The scholarship amount is $1000 with an additional $250 given in the recipient’s name to the charity of their choice. In 2016 SUNY Empire’s very own Pat MacLeod (pictured above, center) won, she chose to donate the award to the Safe, Kind, Inclusive Networking (SKIN) Initiative which she also established and managed. This scholarship is a great way to reward students as well as encourage everyone to keep a commitment to their community.

We highly encourage all students with a 3.5 GPA or higher and extraordinary commitment to their campus, community or both, to apply. Students can receive more information and a copy of the application by visiting https://www.esc.edu/collegewide-student-services/awards-fellowships/
