by Suzanne Lazar ’16, student, School for Graduate Studies, SUNY Empire State College, editor, The Student Connection
Are you directing your focus to full-time college studies and need some financial assistance? Are you looking for some hands-on experience while on your journey as student?
The Federal Work Study program is a unique opportunity for students to earn that valuable professional experience while earning money at the same time. An often-overlooked resource for students, Work Study is a federal program that allows students with financial need to earn funds through employment with authorized Federal Work Study employers.
Students have the ability to explore off-campus opportunities such as working at a nonprofit in community service, under Public Service Corps, with a family literacy program or afterschool program, etc. Off-campus Federal Work Study is a great resume enhancer and network-building opportunity.
Students can also apply for on-campus Work Study positions and get experience working in different parts of the college and with a wide variety of college staff.
New and exciting Work Study positions have recently been added to the on-campus list.
