Student Engagement Mixers a Success

Student Engagement Mixers were designed to create community at Empire State College. So many ESC students study independently whether on-line or face-to-face with a faculty member. The events allowed these students to come into a college location, meet fellow students and staff, create connections and discuss Empire with their Student Affairs Committee representatives. The reps then took the students concerns and suggestions back to the committee to discuss and provide solutions.
Mixers took place at the Saratoga Springs, Buffalo, Seldon, Syracuse, Rochester, Newburgh and Manhattan locations. Danielle Boardman, Coordinator of Student Life stated there were over 250 students registered for the events across the state.
Many students expressed their appreciation for the student mixers as it was helpful to network with fellow adult learners and staff. We are looking forward to another round of mixers next year!
