"Talented," "dedicated," "thoughtful" and "effective" were adjectives used by his colleagues to describe Mancini.
“I was very surprised to be selected, and am honored,” Mancini said. “I value the work I do for SUNY Empire State College and thank all of my colleagues for making this a great place to work. A special thanks to my dean, Nikki Shrimpton, for allowing me to explore my interests, and for all the work she does for Central New York and the college.”
Mancini joined the college in 2008.
According to Shrimpton, “Michael is an excellent and creative analyst, coordinator and planner.”
Among his accomplishments are analyzing and reorganizing workflow, and making the center more efficient and responsive to its students. He also is a noted problem-solver, being the “go to” person for a number of his colleagues.
He has worked to enhance the profile of the college in the local community, through media, social media and community organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce, on which he serves on an advisory committee that is reviewing training needs and opportunities in the Central New York region. In the absence in the last year and a half of an associate dean, Mancini has worked with the dean to ensure smooth functionality of the office. Mancini’s colleagues also speak highly of him, particularly his work on the Student Academic Conference planning committee, the college’s 40th- anniversary celebrations in 2011, and an international meeting of college and university presidents in New York City.
Mancini also has a role on the Office of Communications and Government Relations team.
