James FeldmanJames Feldman, 22, at left, an Empire State College student at Staten Island studying business marketing, was second runner-up in the third annual Mr. New York Pageant on June 11, held on Staten Island in the St. George Theater (also the home of the Miss New York Pageant). Feldman, of Great Kills, also teaches at Dance Sensations in Great Kills.

He said, “I feel amazing about it. I didn’t expect it because there were so many talented people in the competition.”

The competition is a scene-setter and scholarship fundraiser for the Miss New York Pageant, which kicks off tomorrow (June 13). Organizers expressed hope that this year’s total would exceed the $1,500 raised last year. The competition featured eligible bachelors from around the state, all sponsored by the Miss New York 2012 contestants.

The 16 entrants competed in such categories as introductions/first impressions, talent, physical fitness/swimwear and evening wear. The winner was Luke Hawkins, Mr. Upper West Side, who has appeared on Broadway in “White Christmas,” “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and “Xanadu.”
