Silhouettes, a teacher and young man face each other in a discussion, with a background drawing of brains inside the head structure. The Empire State College library would like to announce the addition of a new resource. We have recently added the DSM Library to our online collections. This includes full-text access to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fifth Edition (DSM-5®) as well as the DSM-5® Handbook of Differential Diagnosis, DSM-5® Clinical Cases and the Spanish Edition of the Desk Reference to the Diagnostic Criteria from DSM-5®.

You can find links to these resources on the library’s Books page and the Dictionaries & Encyclopedias page. You also can locate them on the subject guides for Psychology & Sociology, Biology, Health & Medicine, Community & Human Services and Nursing.

An Empire State College login is required to access these resources.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Editionor DSM-5®, is a concise manual used to diagnose and classify mental disorders that has been compiled from the work of hundreds of international experts in all aspects of mental health.

The DSM-5® Handbook of Differential Diagnosis is used by clinicians as well as students that are learning the process of psychiatric diagnosis. It gives a variety of approaches to reaching the most accurate diagnosis.

DSM-5® Clinical Cases contains cases that complement the information in the DSM-5® including the details on how a diagnosis was reached and analysis of the process.

Spanish Edition of the Desk Reference to the Diagnostic Criteria From DSM-5® is an additional resource that is helpful to those needing a Spanish translation of criteria from the DSM-5®.
