What is the Fund for Empire State College?
Did you know that SUNY Empire State College, like most colleges and universities, has a Foundation? Through the Foundation, the college raises funds “to enhance student aid, faculty excellence and facilities and infrastructure, and promotes innovation, new program development and outreach. By encouraging philanthropy and stewardship, the Foundation supports the future growth of the college in becoming an international model of adult learning.” In other words, gifts and charitable contributions to the Foundation from individuals and businesses support the college’s efforts to provide you with exceptional and memorable academic opportunities and experiences.
The Fund for Empire State College plays a significant role in the Foundation. Every year, the college receives monetary gifts from thousands of alumni, employees and friends who want to help make your experience here successful. In 2015, the Fund for Empire State College raised nearly $400,000 in gifts to support four main areas: greatest need, student scholarships, the academic program and faculty excellence.
Alumni give to the Fund because they recognize the value of their degree and appreciate their experience as students. Hundreds of employees, including many faculty, give to the Fund because they believe so strongly in the college’s mission and in you, its students! Friends and businesses across the state give to the Fund because they recognize Empire State College as a valued member of their local communities and they know students graduate with the skills, knowledge and preparation to enhance our communities.
You, the student, are the reason the Fund for Empire State College exists. On behalf of the Office for Advancement, thank you for all your hard work and dedication – best of luck in your studies!
The Foundation is located in Alumni House, 28 Union Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. If you would like additional information or have any questions, please stop by or email Jeffrey.Walton@esc.edu, associate director of the Fund for Empire State College, or call 518-587-2100, ext. 2337.
