Troops to Teachers (TTT) assists transitioning military service members to begin a career as public school teachers by providing counseling, referral services, assisting them to meet education and licensing requirements, and securing a teaching position.
Pending availability of funds, eligible individuals may receive a stipend of up to $5K to help pay for certification costs, or a bonus of $10K to teach in schools serving a high percentage of students from low-income families.
Those accepting the stipend or bonus agree to teach for three years in targeted schools in accordance with the authorizing legislation.
