Harry Van Arsdale School of Labor Studies Professor Featured on Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien
(SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- September 28, 2023) Empire State University’s Harry Van Arsdale Jr. School of Labor Studies Labor Historian and Assistant Professor Jeffrey Schuhrke, Ph.D. was featured on "Matter of Fact" with Soledad O’Brien this month. Schuhrke sat down with O’Brien to discuss the labor movement in relation to the strikes among teachers, actors, auto workers, and a variety of other professions and the impact it could have on the future of work.
"A lot of working people feel like they deserve more. We've seen a lot focus and realization of the growing wealth inequality. Historically, strikes have been important and essential in creating a more fair, just, and humane economy. I think a lot of American working class and middle-class people understand that and support these strikes to raise labor standards for everyone," Schuhrke said.
