Empire State University Kicks Off Crowdfunding Campaign for Lab Kits

(SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — November 22, 2023) Empire State University’s Office for Advancement is launching its first-ever crowdfunding campaign to raise money for lab kits for students.  

The Lab Kits Fund will enable students to conduct science experiments at home. The kits will contain test tubes, beakers, and safety equipment, among other things. Faculty will pair online discussions with labs and assign students a lab partner, giving them a group learning experience and more impactful way to learn.  

“We are so thrilled to launch this campaign, which directly helps our students who are enrolled in science courses,” said Marly Norris, vice president of advancement. “Donations to the Lab Kits Fund will give SUNY Empire students the hands-on experiences that will prepare them for the real world.”  

The campaign demonstrates SUNY Empire’s ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities and removing barrier for our students. Like textbooks, the cost of an individual lab kit can be cost prohibitive for some students.  

The campaign launched yesterday and will continue until March 1, 2024.
