Empire State University President Lisa Vollendorf Featured in Look This Week Interview

(SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – August 1, 2023) Empire State University President Lisa Vollendorf was featured in “Look This Week,” a weekly news and information video series hosted by Jesse H. Jackson of Look Media Resource.  

Look Media is an independently operated, local television station in Saratoga Springs and Glens Falls, New York that features local news, weather, sports, and lifestyle content. 

Dr. Vollendorf spoke about Empire State University and how we serve the local community and beyond. 

“In the Capital Region, we have approximately 1,500 students out of our 16,000 who are from this region,” she said. “We’re happy to be looking at what is needed by major employers: assessing apprenticeships, giving credit for prior learning, and helping advance educational attainment here locally in the Capital Region and across the entire state.” 

Dr. Vollendorf also spoke about SUNY Empire’s commitment to true, inclusive excellence, and how we meet students where they are by being a national leader in awarding credit for prior learning as well as helping students maximize their transfer credits.  

“We need more of SUNY Empire’s values and strategies in higher education,” she said. “Rather than shutting people out of higher education, we need to say, ‘We are here to serve you, and we will take the time to figure out how you can get your degree with us.’”
