Empire State University Assistant Professor in the School of Arts and Humanities Mindy Kronenberg

(BROOKHAVEN, NY - August 7, 2023) Empire State University Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Arts and Humanities Mindy Kronenberg will take part in two exciting art events on Long Island.

The first event, taking place on Saturday, August 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is the "Sculpture on the Trail" art installation at the Center for Environmental and Educational Discovery (CEED). Kronenberg has curated a collection of poetry for this event, showcasing the creative union of art and nature. With 20 talented artists and poets participating, the plan is to create a book that will feature the exhibited art pieces alongside the poetry. CEED is a remarkable organization that aims to foster a deeper connection between our community and the environment through the use of discovery, art, and education. They offer a range of programs and events for people of all ages, including school-based environmental education, conservation projects, and even live animal ambassadors.

The second event, scheduled for Sunday, August 20 from 2 to 4 p.m., is the launch and reading for the 20th-anniversary issue of the Oberon Poetry magazine, in which Kronenberg serves as the editor of the international literary journal. The event will take place at the Gallery North in Setauket, NY. Oberon Poetry magazine is published by the nonprofit arts organization, the Oberon Foundation, which operates on Long Island.

Kronenberg’s poetry, essays, and reviews have been published in numerous prestigious publications, both in the United States and abroad. Her work has also been featured in art installations, demonstrating the diverse platforms she has explored. In addition, Kronenberg is a passionate educator, teaching writing, literature, and arts at Empire State University. She has also conducted workshops in the community through organizations like Poets & Writers, BOCES, and the Walt Whitman Birthplace.

Kronenberg's participation in these Long Island art events showcases her dedication to both her craft and community engagement.
