Virtual and Onsite Meetings
The Saturday Residency courses use a blended model that combines online or independent learning with three virtual or onsite meetings per term. Students who register for courses with virtual meetings will access them through Microsoft Teams. Students who register for courses with onsite meetings with meet at our SUNY Empire State University location in Syracuse, NY (6333 Rte. 298, East Syracuse, NY 13057).
The virtual and onsite meeting schedule is broken down into two cores with an hour for lunch. Students are required to attend during their scheduled class time and may register for one course from each core. Please Note: The virtual and onsite meetings are offered at different times. Students may register for virtual or onsite courses, but not both.
Courses meet for an hour and a half to two hours. During class, students will meet with their instructor and fellow classmates and work on projects and assignments.
During the lunch break, students are encouraged to attend the "Lunch and Learn" sessions that offer a variety of professional and personal enrichment workshops and guest speaker presentations. This is an excellent opportunity for students to network and learn practical skills and knowledge to apply to the workplace and everyday life.
Between the virtual or onsite meetings, students will work independently with their instructor or exchange work online through Brightspace (formerly Moodle).
Virtual Meeting Schedule
- 9 – 10:30 a.m. - Core I Courses
- 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. - Core II Courses
- 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. - Lunch and Learn Session
- Courses with virtual meetings use Microsoft Teams. The platform is similar to Zoom or Skype and is user friendly. Students can access the meetings through a computer, laptop, or phone. Use the Technology checklist for Microsoft Teams to download Teams to a preferred device and make a test call before class.
Onsite Meeting Schedule
- 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. - Core I Courses
- 12 - 1 p.m. Lunch and Learn Sessions
- 1 - 3 p.m. - Core II Courses
