Post-9/11 GI Bill Students

For Post 9/11 GI Bill Students - Important Information Regarding the BAH

The VA has designated SUNY Empire State College as a distance learning institution, which means that Post-9/11 (Chapter 33)-eligible student veterans attending Empire State College will receive the distance learning housing allowance, rather than the in-resident housing allowance (frequently referred to as the BAH)The distance learning housing allowance from August 1, 2016 -July 31, 2017 is $805.50 per month if enrolled full time and 100 percent entitled to Post-9/11 GI Bill.

Students wishing to receive the in-resident housing allowance while enrolled at Empire State College can cross-register for a course at a traditional school that meets the in-resident housing allowance requirements. For more information about cross-registration, visit our webpage Cross-Registration Information, or contact Kimberly Durant at 518-587-2100, ext 2334.
