What is a Strategic Enrollment Management Plan (SEMP)?

Our Strategic Enrollment Management Plan is a comprehensive and proactive plan to attract, retain, and graduate students in alignment with SUNY Empire’s institutional mission and goals.

The primary aim of the SEMP is to optimize student enrollment and success by integrating different aspects of the educational institution, including academic programs, student services, financial aid, marketing, and recruitment efforts.

This plan involves a holistic and coordinated effort to align the institution's enrollment strategies with its mission, resources, and the needs of its target student population. It requires ongoing assessment, flexibility, and adaptation to changes in the educational landscape.

How does the SEMP differentiate from the university’s strategic plan, Elevate ’28?

Both the SEMP and Elevate ’28 involve planning for the future of the institution.

The SEMP is specifically focused on student recruitment, retention, and success, while the university’s strategic plan (Elevate ’28) takes a more comprehensive approach, considering all aspects of the institution and its long-term objectives.

These two processes are aligned to ensure that enrollment management strategies support the broader institutional goals outlined in the strategic plan.
