There are both location-based student services offices and a collegewide student affairs office to make it easy for you.
We hope that you will take a step beyond your academic life and become involved in the college through your location. Our unique institution offers you the opportunity to network with other students online, in-person and at conferences and residencies.
The deadline has been extended for SUNY Empire State College’s 9th Annual Student Art Competition. With the continued success of previous competitions, the 2017 Student Art Competition will be run in the same format. Once again, the artwork selected as the winning pieces will not automatically be chosen as the artwork displayed on the poster that is distributed collegewide. Instead, the top three pieces and several honorable mentions will be digitally displayed and the college community will have the final vote on the piece they would like to see as the poster. The winning pieces will be announced in early fall. At that point, the collegewide voting will begin for the piece to be displayed on the poster.
At the new Fall Student Conference, the winning poster as well as all the winners will be recognized. First, second, and third prizewinners receive a monetary award. There may be several honorable mentions as well. First place and the
In honor of SUNY Empire’s recently formed partnership with the University of the West Indies, there will be an additional prize for the piece or artwork that embodies the “Year of the Caribbean” theme. In addition, the piece selected for the poster will receive an additional award.
In addition, travel assistance may be available for the top three winners so they can attend the Fall Student Conference and display their winning pieces at the Art Show in November.
We continue to be impressed by the volume and quality of submissions we receive every year and look forward to the same this year.
Students are encouraged to submit up to 3 pieces of artwork online to be reviewed by a committee of judges across the state. Any type/medium of art is accepted for judging, but it must be submitted as a two-dimensional electronic image. Submissions are due by Friday, July 21st by 5 PM.
